Este manga se me hace nostálgico porque en su momento me vi su anime. Y la historia creo que es muy poderosa, como él la ayuda a mejorar su ansiedad social poco a poco. Les quiero mucho, son los mejores.

Komi Can’t Communicate Volume 2 is just as cute as Volume 1. Komi, a teenage girl who has an extreme social anxiety disorder, cannot speak that great in public. Her goal for school - make 100 friends.
This story is just so wholesome and sweet, and the characters, whilst some are odd and some are weird, they all add to the story and Komi’s friend list.
The only somewhat-negative comment I have is about Ren. I just don’t like Ren. That is all.
Overall, 5 stars.

I haven’t read volume 1 yet, but I picked up this because I keep seeing it at bookstore chains.

I thought the whole art, story, and characters were fine. (It would’ve landed with 3 stars.)
However, there was a chapter that was effy.
Spoiler I know the manga is full of tropes, but Komi shouldn’t agree to be her friend. She could put her other friends in danger!! >:8

As the story is based around Komi’s social anxiety, I worry it may be written off as a quirk rather than a mental health condition in the later volumes.

Overall, I wouldn’t worry about tackling the rest of the series.

2 / 5 stars.

Komi Can't Communicate is all over the place. Does it want to be a zany, over-the-top comedy about a school of freaks, or does it want to be a heartwarming, encouraging slice of life about dealing with anxiety? The manga cannot stick to a lane, and so it falls apart.

One moment the story will be simple and about Komi going clothes shopping. Flip a page, and suddenly Tadano has been kidnapped by a psycho yandere and is being threatened at knifepoint. The manga tries to make light of this event, like it's funny, but the intensity of it is too much and oversteps the bounds of what is supposed to be a lighthearted manga.
Ren as a character exists outside of this manga's scope, and her presence is a confusing tone killer that doesn't mesh with the rest of the cast. The fact that she and Komi do become friends after her violent crimes is laughable in an unfunny way where I'm just bewildered as to why this was included at all.

The rest of the manga is more of the same as the content in the first volume. The characters are all obnoxious except for Tadano and Komi herself. Their specific relationship is admittedly cute, and I continue to wish this story was focused on them instead of the "wacky" side cast. Tadano and Komi have adorable chemistry, and their time together is the only worthwhile thing to read.

But even these moments can be derailed by an issue that exists through the entirety of the manga.
Komi is constantly sexualized. Not by the author, but by the whole rest of the cast.
No one can ever shut up about how incredibly sexy she is and how they all want to grope her, date her, lick her, etc. They want to be her slaves, not her friends.
The consistent objectification happening is really weird, and I can't help but think we, the readers, are also supposed to objectify Komi in this sexual way. I don't. And I am judging anyone who does.

Can everyone stop undressing high school girls with their eyes for just two seconds? Is it impossible for a manga to try to have some dignity?
