this book was the cutest! from the work place rivals to the pen pals and the christmas vibes of it all? it was everything and more.

i really enjoyed this christmas novella. gabby & jonathan’s banter was hilarious. i love the enemies/rivals to lovers trope in this book! and the bookstore being a setting was just so cozy!

An autistic rendition of you’ve got mail? Sign me the hell up.

My usual gripe with novellas is I wish they were longer (ikik, that’s the point). I still think I would have enjoyed this more if it was longer BUT it stands pretty solid. So imma give it 5 ⭐️

The Mistletoe Motive • Chloe Liese

I was seeing this book everywhere and I didn’t really have many holiday themed books so I figured I would read it.
I loved this novella! So many aspects of it reminded me of other books I had enjoyed reading this past year! Like The Hating Game, Tacos for Two (this book executed the online aspect better) and The Kiss Quotient! So in a way it was like a mini wrap up!
I also loved that it shed light on diabetes which Jonathan has and Demi sexuality and autism that Gabriella has.
I also LOVED that there was a playlist along with this book and it’s incorporated somehow in it! I definitely enjoyed listening along to it while reading!

Cute concept!

This was an absolutely adorable read! It was a very light-hearted enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine-ish workplace romance and I really enjoyed it.

I love getting a glimpse into the neurodivergent and/or atypical minds of Chloe’s characters. As a deaf person I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to not be able to recognise things like body language or social cues as I rely on these things when trying to hear. It always gives me a fresh perspective into others who don’t fit the “norm” and Gabby’s mind was truly enlightening.

As with everything Chloe Liese touches, this was magical! It was appropriately festive without overdoing it. It was perfectly balanced -- something I imagine is harder to achieve in a novella.

I loved the representation, especially Gabriella's sensory issues! I have a ton of sensory sensitivities myself so that made my heart soar to see.

It's just such a wonderful slice of a story!
