A grump and a sunshine compete to see who can make the most sales over the holiday season, in the hopes that the winner will get to keep their job at the struggling indie they both work for. Unbeknownst to each other, both Jonathan and Gabriella have been flirting via DM on a popular website about Austen and romance novels.

A mix of P&P tropes + the shop on the corner + you've got mail, this was a cute and ultimately steamy holiday romance novella. As always, Chloe Liese showcases her talent at interweaving disability and neurodivergence into her romances, as Gabriella is autistic and demisexual, and Jonathan is a Type 1 Diabetic.

For all the buildup to the reveal that Gabriella and Jonathan are also their online alter egos, I felt the ending was really rushed, but for a novella length this was sweet like a sugar cookie and satisfying for a quick read.

Single POV throughout (Gabriella); epilogue is in Jonathan's POV

Thank you to KOBO for the ARC

I adored this book! Chloe Liese once again has left me speechless! I highlighted so many quotes in this book! Chloe really does have a way with words!!

“ There’s never been a place where I’ve felt so sure I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to, and right where I belong.”

“ It also means I’m creative and a daydreamer, an artistically expressive person who pours herself into her passions and loves fiercely - the causes and people close to my heart - and does none of that by half measures.”

In the nicest way possible, I was bored.
For starters, not liking the main character is the worst.
I dnfed it and like I have 3-5 chapters left I think.

3.5/5

As far as wholesome holiday reads go, this really hit the mark. I wanted to read this book ever since I saw it for the first time and I must say, it exceeded my expectations of it. I read this cover to cover and loved every minute of it. The ‘plottwist’ had me literally screaming with joy. I will wholeheartedly recommend #themistletoemotive to every person who wants to listen!
