Very sappy. Characters make very flowery speeches and are overall very dramatic. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the writing and this was a fun holiday read.

Pride and Prejudice with a hint of You’ve Got Mail set in Christmas time between two booksellers? SIGN ME UP. She loves Christmas, he’s the Scrooge. They’ve been frosty to each other since the first day they met. Gabriella Di Natale and Jonathan Frost are the epitome of work enemies. They both work at the city’s most beloved independent bookstore, Bailey’s Bookshop but when they both discover that their store might be closing and one of them might be fired... the competition is on: whoever sells the most books gets to stay. Yet things get complicated when Gabby starts to question if she really knows Jonathan or if she’s deeply misjudged and misunderstood him. To make matters even more complicated she’s got an ex who will not stop calling and begging her to get back with him... and he’s the son of the enemy large bookshop.... and Gabby also has an online friend she might be falling for... who might be closer than she realized. The more Gabby starts to see that she’s misunderstood Jonathan the more she begins to realize she never really knew him and that there just might be some sparks between them. This was a really cute enemies to lovers holiday read and wraps up perfectly!

Darling little Christmas novella that answers the question, “What if ‘You’ve Got Mail’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ had a sexy little Christmas baby?” Jonathan is grumpy and brooding (my fave) and a BOOKSELLER who is going to save Bailey’s Books (yes, owned by THAT George Bailey) from the evil, encroaching Potter’s Pages (a big bookstore chain.) Gabriella is his quirky, Christmas-loving colleague who thinks she can save the indie bookstore with her brand of personalized warmth and community, versus his cold, calculating data-driven approach. They obviously hate each other at work, but have a well-developed friendship online through their anonymous book nerd Telegram handles. There’s some hockey and banging on Belle’s ladder from Beauty & the Beast and disability rep (autism and diabetes) and overall I couldn’t ask for anything more. So sweet, so funny, so sexy, so perfect.

Let’s be honest. I was on a book that fit two criteria: available on Libby immediately and featured Jacob Morgan as a narrator on the audio book.
What I was not expecting: quality autistic representation, or a hint of hockey representation.

this was a quick and cute holiday read.
two bookstore co-managers, one filled with all the christmas spirit and one a lowkey grinch.. have to learn to work together and save the store.
while they may not get on in person, they’ve been chatting online without knowing it.
I loved this whole story, i wish it was longer and that’s simply why this wasn’t a 5 star.

I just can’t do no reason enemies to lovers.. it’s making me have second hand embarrassment but I loved that this book is incisive.
