this was a cute enough read! i think one of my favorite things from liese's writing is her ability to create a slow-burn romance so when it is shortened into a novella, i can feel it? does that make sense? i feel like our characters didn't talk through much of their miscommunication issues and of course, they were online pen pals while they were hating each other in person. because what else would happen? i enjoyed it, but only to the expected extent.

4.5⭐+❤

A classic grumpy/sunshine, enemies-to-lovers with a bookish modern twist. Gabby is a creative, neurodivergent bookseller at a mom-and-pop bookshop. Jonathan is a bookseller who also handles the books at the shop. The two are faced with the task of saving the shop before the end of the year and a competition breaks out. Their banter is great, the scenes are descriptive, the characters are relatable and fun. A lovely audiobook to listen to!

“Just because you’re loving them differently than they love doesn’t make it any less loving. My mom says there are countless kinds of love, and love enough for everyone. That love is an infinite resource whose expressions are just as innumerable.”

Jonathan and Gabby had great chemistry, the perfect blend of everything you would want in a Christmas novella.
