Second reading: That was better the second time. I picked up on so many Easter eggs.

That was quite fun. Nothing Earth shattering, but Emma is a hoot. I don't like the journal format for telling a story, and so it gets one less star for that, but I'll keep reading the series.

The reader gradually learns about Emma M. Lion through her journal entries. Though Emma has experienced some tragedy and financial hardships, the book has a light feel to it. Emma's a positive and confident person with a good sense of humor, and her diary entries are quite witty.

I'll continue on with the series.
