What I liked:
š©ļø Cap made this book
š©ļø Fast-paced
š©ļø Family drama / decent backstory for Miles
What I didn't like:
š» Miles treats Tate like a doormat
š»Tate bends to Miles' will
š»Mike's has a good backstory but NO personality
š»THE ENDING š” like after all that, why?!
š»Writing style (a good portion of this book is written like poetry, it's very random)
š»"Say ox" š¤¢ and how many times CoHo used the word liquid

If I were to be honest, I had high expectations for this one especially coming from a great read like It Ends With Us, but my goal is to not compare the two, so I will not.
I'd lie if I said I didn't like Ugly Love because my god did it put me through another emotional wreck, but there were obviously elements that didn't do it for me. Particularly, and most especially, Miles' flashback pov/monologues about Rachel. "My new favorite flavor is Rachel." C-R-I-N-G-E! And as for the other thing I didn't like, it was how much of a pushover Tate was, which I'm pretty sure many felt the same about. It can't just be me?? It was beyond disappointing & almost irritating to know how easily she forgives Miles as if he didn't traumatize her enough.
Miles' redemption at the end was personally more than enough to make it a nice ending. It matters that he tried to get to the bottom of his issues so he can fully give himself to Tate. Ugly love is definitely not CoHo's best work, but another great book nonetheless.

ā¢ The parallels between the past relationship and the current relationship.
ā¢ The structure of how the past relationship is set out in the chapters.
ā¢ I actually liked the development of the past relationship more than the current relationship.
Things I didnāt like:
ā¢ The main lead and love interest spent no time together aside from sex before deciding that they loved each other.
ā¢ Neither character was really special, I felt like I had read the character a million times.
ā¢ Love interest treated the main lead like shit and was forgiven completely in the end just because of his revealed back story.
ā¢ Iām sick of books using ātortured tragic male with horrifying backstoryā as a main leading plot device.
