Right smack in the middle of 3 and 4 stars. Of course...

What an odd and lovely story. Love the art too. The composition of clear lines and texture in backgrounds beautiful and gives the panels the sense of motion. I also found the use of larger, full page panels, very cleverly done and added action. A little fast-paced and I was confused on some of the plot details but all and all great work. Looking forward to volume 2.

This one was rather strange, and I don't know how I feel about it. It was interesting, but the story was a little all over the place. Perhaps future volumes will give more world building and backstory, but I don't know that I will pursue that.

Beautifully Illustrated, this graphic novel is a lot of fun with an interesting set of characters and a dynamic visual landscape. That being said, there were some small issues with the plot in terms of a shallow arc and redundant dialog.

So good! the colour, the way cells are used, the story, the roundness of each and every character.... Just lovely! My only complaint is that, if you only have volume one, you will go mad. Pick up both at the same time.

Also, not to be beat an issue into the ground, but having read this more or less at the same time as the "princeless" series- I really, really like that there is a female engineer character- and that it is NEVER mentioned that she is female. Her gender simply doesn't matter. Doesn't come up. It's refreshing.
