I am really enjoying trying out all of the Rick Riordan Presents series. This one is a lot of fun and full of mythology that was brand new to me!

Part of Rick Riordan's imprint of #ownvoices retellings of mythology, this adventure through Mayan history and culture successfully brings the adventure to life in keeping with Riordan's own Greco Roman novels. Zane lives with his mother and his uncle in rural New Mexico. One of his legs is shorter than the other, which forces him to use a cane as he walks. When a new girl at school approaches him to discuss a prophecy that he is part of, Zane has to suddenly make sense of his whole life being different than he previously thought. Is it possible that his father was one of the gods? And if that wasn't all, the future of the world as we know it suddenly depends on him. Highly recommended for fans of Percy Jackson, grades 4 & up.

4.5/5⭐️
WOW was this book good!!!! I loved the myth, the plot, the characters - absolutely incredible. I’ve gotta get my hands on the next one!!

Great addition to the Rick Riordan style of stories, with a Maya mythology.

*I got this book for review form the publisher*

I really enjoyed this read. I found the diversity to be such a fun read. I found this book to a super compelling read. I thought the end of the book was a tad rushed. I really loved the myths that this story used. I also loved how this story had a trio of characters. I really found his book to be such a fun read and I am really excited for the sequel as well!

The cover of this book? Pretty. The plot and mythology aspects? Interesting enough. But the narrative voice? MEH. Hence the two-star rating.
