A fast-paced, action-filled story with a mathematical twist. A few parts were a little preachy for my taste and there was a lot of girl power rhetoric which I don’t personally care for.

CC: one swear word, violence, fire, minor romantic insinuations, parents are worthless, rule breaking with no consequences

Stuart Gibbs really knows how to write a well researched, well thought out middle grade mystery/thriller. Charlie Thorne is his newest creation in this series, and she's (yes, finally a Stuart Gibbs girl genius!!!) is literally almost as smart as Einstein. She's 12 and in college, basically coasting through life. She's a millionaire, although she had to steal the money back from the people who stole it from her in the first place, and she also doesn't really trust adults or authority. And the CIA just involved her in the search for Einstein's last equation, known as Pandora.

Supposedly, on his death bed, Einstein accidentally spoke up about his most important equation and where it could be found - asking for it to be protected. This equation has the potential to take atomic power to the next level by making it simple and affordable, and also has the potential for a terrorist to easily wipe out the world. Now the CIA is racing to find it, because decades later, a terrorist group supposedly knows where it is. Can they find it in time? Or will someone else get to it first?

I loved the girl genius aspect of this book, loved how well written the locales were. You can tell that a lot of research went into both the locations, as well as Einstein himself. Truly a fun, quick read that I think any middle grader who likes thrillers should read.

Think James Bond like action for kids! Charlie is a highly intelligent young girl who gets into several tight situations but manages to survive.

My 10 yo son and I read this together. Or we started it together, then he read 20 chapters without me. I was not upset as it’s the first big chapter book he’s wanted to read on his own that’s not a graphic novel. We both loved it

This is so much fun! Gibbs does a wonderful job of adding context without feeling like a teaching moment. Also, did I mention how much fun this is? Charlie is sassy, daring, and hecka smart. If I had books like this when I was younger, I would have read so much more.

Ahhhh! I adore this! I loved Charlie and the writing style and the plot was go, go, go, go! I mean, these 400 pages take place in 24 hours!!??? TIME ZONES ARE CRAZY!!

I love rich characters, especially those who stole, earned, and deserve all that mulla!

The acknowledgments in this book were great. I truly only read acknowledgments to for novels that I love and this is one of them
