i read the first half of this book in one sitting, not able to put it down. it was hard to get in that flow again, but that could just be me.. i thought it was so interesting how you were really sucked up into the mind of matthew, and the choice to put the biggest event on the first few pages but then not explain it until a lot of pages further was very bold, though in my opinion it worked out great: i found this book quite the page-turner. the huge grief was portrayed beautifully, not only in matthew, but in all the characters. the mom was one of the most interesting characters of the book, in my opinion. the mix of timelines made this book chaotic in a good way - it correlated with the way matthew’s brain works - but at times it could get a little bit too confusing. definitely a book i’d read again, also for that reason: it’d be way easier to understand (though that takes a bit of the experience away)
