It's no secret that I adore Neil Gaiman so I fully expected to love this little book. And love it I did! I haven't been pursuing creative projects for a while and reading his wonderful words that have been beautifully illustrated by Chris Riddell was like a balm to my creative soul. It's poignant and moving and inspiring and uplifting. There is so much heart packed into the words and illustrations. You can feel the love coming off the pages.

A good collection of the knowledge and wit of Neil Gaiman. I have to admit I love hearing him read them instead of my imitation of Neil in my head. He preforms some of these so much better than the words spoken by my inner reading voice leaving the words sitting on the page. The illustrations are great and filled with easter eggs for hardcore followers of Gaiman and so well done with an eye for characterization.
Art matters is short but thought provoking. Chris Riddell's art and lettering gives Neil Gaiman's words even more impact than normal. It's like rocket boosters on a formula one!
The book is just packed with nuggets of wisdom, and extols the virtues of reading, being true to yourself and enjoying the ride. Whether it's work or a hobby we can all make good art. Especially when life is being tough with us.
