This is not a novel, but a call to arms and encouragement for creative types (i.e. all of us). In a series of what are essentially quotations, Gaiman explains why what we create is important for everyone, especially ourselves. The quotes are wonderful and easy even for a child to understand (but not childish). This book should have a place on the shelf in everyone's home.

I think I'll read it again. Which I did.

I love this little book. It is quite simply the finest thing Gaiman has ever written. Read it, then get your kids and/or friends to read it. I'm going to buy this, as my bookshelf would be empty without it.

2020 -
I listened to Neil read this. He has such a lovely, calming voice and I have been unable to settle down and read so I am going on a "read by Neil" binge. Is anyone a better reader? Nope!

2018 -
This was a beautiful little book. Gaiman's words lend themselves perfectly to Siddell's whimsical style of illustration. Everything contained within the bindings of this book has been published before, but these are the highlights of Gaiman's most inspiring quotes.

Anyone reading this and feeling themselves encouraged, uplifted, what have you, please, please read The View from the Cheap Seats. Better yet, listen to the audio book. Gaiman is an inspiring man and we could all use more verbal love.

Got this book as a lil christmas gift from a lovely friend who saw it and thought of me, rightly so. Neil Gaiman has been one of my favorite writers ever since I was a young babe and discovered the joys of Good Omens, which I've read multiple times at this point.

Neil's advice is lovely and so is the artwork here. A really nice gift for an artist.
