A beautiful depiction of a fucked up life, from traumatizing childhood to mentally ill adulthood, from unhealthy coping mechanisms to violence and group psychosis. Absolutely brilliant.

The only book I wish I DNF, because of these labels that should have been listed. Be in a good headspace if you choose to read this book.

A very sad and vivid book.
The main character's actions are uncomfortable, but the magical realism/psychosis elements make Natsuki's experiences feel really vivid.

This is very readable but was a tough read. Highly recommend checking the content warnings for this one before you begin

A gripping and horrific story of how childhood alienation can be.... alienating. Not for the faint of heart, but I find it near perfect for what it's trying to do - the first person narrative is excellent at slowly revealing the narrator's genuinely shitty situation, and providing a look into her mind as she slides further and further away from social acceptance.
