There was a moment in this book that I put it down and said out loud "Oh my god. I can't believe that just happened." And then I needed to talk to someone about it! I had to discuss the big change of events! And there was no one I could call! I was on the bus at the time and no one on there would understand. I sat dumbfounded and amazed at the stuff that Jodi can think up and write so well!

Jodi can do no wrong! She took the story to a place that I wasn’t expecting and then she took it one step further. Challenging topic, expertly written about.

Perfect Match was my introduction to Jodi Picoult, and I have been hooked ever since. Never before or since have I read a book with a major twist on the last page. Some may have seen it coming, but it surprised me. It will make you want to hug your children, especially if they're boys.

Begs the question, what would you do?

Nina Frost is a prosecutor. She knows the legal system, and she knows what victims have to go through to testify. When her own 5-year-old son is sexually abused, Nina will do anything to prevent him from having to take the stand a relive his traumatic experience.

From Perfect Match: "I may be a prosecutor, but I'm also the first to tell you that if you cannot communicate in a certain way, you cannot get justice in the American legal system."

I have been a Jodi Picoult fan since I first read "My Sister's Keeper" in 2003. I have read all of her books, but it's been a long time. So, I decided to go back and reread "Perfect Match." The writing is compelling, and I spent way too much of my Saturday reading when I should have been doing chores. One of my favorite things about this author is that she does her research on the topic, but she is able to portray people as they are in real life.

From Perfect Match: "Life, it turns out, goes on. There is no cosmic rule that grants you immunity from the details just because you have come face-to-face with a catastrophe. The garbage cans still overflow, the bills arrive in the mail, telemarketers interrupt dinner."

This would have been a 5-star book for me, but I didn't care about the ending. I think the author should have cut out the last chapter because it just went a little too far.

Overall, I loved this book for the same reason I love most of Picoult's books- it really makes you think, and it is written in a way that you get to see both sides of an issue.

This is my first Jodi Picoult read and I suspect it won't be the last. The topic is one that I don't enjoy reading about and I have to confess that about half way in, I went and read the last few pages, something I have never done. Overall, a good read.

Bijzonder indrukwekkend boek! Absoluut een aanrader.
