Classic Picoult. I've been returning to her backlist and have not been disappointed.

Not the best of JP. Not convinced with Nina’s behaviour of killing the man who raped his son. Yes, she loves her son so much that she doesn’t want him to go through the horrible thoughts again. But yet again, if she loved him that much she wouldn’t put herself in a situation where she might go to jail and not be able to be there for her son. Why would she also kill the man in front of her son? Surely that would even cause more trauma. His son, Nathaniel’s muteness felt forcefully put in that I don’t think it supported the plot effectively - I wish I would hear more from the son’s perspective.

The takeaway point is how people can’t trust the law system because of its flaw. A discussion worth thinking about but I think JP could have done it better.

I absolutely loved this book! I will say, this could be incredibly hard for people to read if they have children, because of the whole story being about a 5 year old who was sexually assaulted.

Jodi is so good at writing twists and thrills, even though her books aren't even thrillers. I was HANGING MY MOUTH OPEN at some of the big twists in this book. This is an incredibly emotional read, and is pretty disturbing with the graphic scenes of child sexual assault. Its a really important topic to read about though. I highly recommend!!!
