This was a hard read..I am a person who was a sexually abused child, and I can tell you first hand that the memories NEVER go away. They say kids bounce back quicker than the parents, and this is also something that I don't believe. This book was very well written, and the twist was my fear with coming forward. This covers a very taboo topic that a lot of people just brush off, but it happens more than anyone realizes.

I love this book. Jodi Picoult is up there on my favourite author list because I always feel like I could be best friends with her characters. I know Nina gets so many things wrong and at times can be really unlikeable but the way she shows up for her son and fights for him does something for my soul. The snippets into Nathaniel’s experiences simultaneously break and heal my heart because Jodi hits the nail on the head over and over again. I really liked seeing Nina’s relationship with Caleb and the acknowledgment that life does go on even when it’s fallen apart, I have so many favourite quotes from this book.

I read this book while having some time off of work , but I think it was a waste of time. The plot sounded really good and I did enjoy some of the twists and turns the book took, but it was a little to predictable and I didn't like the main character. Although, the ending was good.

This book was well written. It makes us wonder how we would respond if our children were harmed. A family can be torn apart in so many ways when an act of violence is enacted upon a child.
