Delightfully creepy stories!

Also, helpfully useful for PhD.

Some of these stories have dated better than others, but otherwise this self-selected collection of the best of Bowen's horror-leaning work is pretty solid. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/2022/02/01/surveying-a-devilish-diocese/

The title of this book is so promising. How can a book called The Bishop from Hell not be good? Unfortunately I didn't really care for the stories in this book.
Some of them where OK, I liked The Avenging of Ann Leete but most of the stories where boring and not scary at all. The only reason I finished this was to catch up with my GoodReads challenge. If it wasn't for that I would have put the book down half way through.

This book really was very good. I was surprised with how good it was to be honest. The characters felt very real and they had good depth for it being a short story. All in all, I was very pleased with this collection.
