i don't believe the author has ever been to a theme park, which seems like a failing in this book about a theme park.
Graphic: Misogyny
Moderate: Murder
If you're wondering how a book whose premise is murder only has moderate murder, the answer is nobody dies onscreen. The misogyny is typical "not like other girls" misogyny but it's so present and mostly directed at one character.nat20charisma's review against another edition

My sister recommended this author, and it was my first time reading one of her books. The writing for the Island is very complex, but I think it fits the teen horror genre.
The story is interesting, and I gotta hand it to the author, I didn’t predict who the killer was.
That said, I wasn’t entirely convinced by the logistics of some of the plot points. At times the island seems large, but at others it’s small and you can see it all from the third floor of a building. The passage of time didn’t feel organic either.
Also, the final 3 pages were just a hot mess. I think she would have been fine without the final “twist”. It was too over the top and the buildup wasn’t there.
All in all, it was a fine book. I was pretty hooked and read it quickly. I don’t think I will be reading any of her other works though any time soon.
