I love a cop partners-mystery-romance story, and this checks all my boxes. It's the first in the series featuring FBI Agent Rain and Brickle Bay PD Detective Danny. Years ago, their relationship imploded when Rain chose a job over Danny. Now drawn back to his hometown, he has to work with Danny again to solve a cold case. Oh yeah, and Danny can see and talk to ghosts. As soon as they are back in proximity to each other, they both long for a way to get a second chance to make it work. The have to work through serious trust issues and one gigantic secret. This is a medium level angst book for me, and I thought their chemistry and banter was good. The characters did get put through a lot but it made the ending that more poignant. The narration was also excellent.

4,5★ Mystery, romance and GHOSTS? Count me in
funny mysterious fast-paced

Thank the gods I didn't judge this book by its cover because both that and the title are pretty damn bad. But the content within is so damn good. Really scratched the itch I had for a good gay paranormal mystery with a big splash of romance.

It has its pop culture cringe moments, but I'll forgive them. And it introduces a lot of side characters (not including the suspects of the murder mystery), but since it's the first book of a series I'm hoping I'll get to know them better in later installments.

EM Denning led me to try this series and it’s a reminder that I should trust EM in all things!!

I adore suspense/detective romances, especially serials.  These two are intriguing, and I just know they are going to be pretty special.

This is my first foray into ghostly paranormal romances, so I’m excited to see how that all plays out too.

I love all the snark, pushy ghosts, and a chance for a second chance at love. There is nothing better than two people who are meant for one another, who fell apart and get an opportunity to set things right. But not without some work. And I have no doubt theirs going to be some interesting times ahead.

This was performed by narrator Noah Michael Levine, the first time for me, and he was excellent. I really enjoyed his voice, pacing, and portrayal of the characters.

I am in love with Rain and Danny! Rain is an FBI agent who sees ghost. He gets assigned a case in his hometown working with his ex-boyfriend, Danny. Rain stays with his ex while investigating a cold case and romance ensues. I fell in love with the characters and the humor. This is a definite 2021 fav!

3.5 stars

I liked this story it was engaging and I enjoyed the Paranormal aspect, but Danny and Rain, at times I couldn't feel the chemistry.

I think that if we had more chemistry or something with the two I would have enjoyed it more. Everything felt a little surface level. I did enjoy listening to the book though, I have started and stopped this book about 2 times before grabbing the audio book and finishing it.

I think that I will wait until my Scribd will let me listen to book two, I don't want to use a credit on Audible for the second book.

Overall enjoyable, but wished for more.
