Fun and very bingable :3

This is a reread. I initially rated this book 5 stars but almost 2 years later, I would rate this 3 stars or maybe 3,5.
It's a good suspenseful romance with a paranormal twist. It reads like an episode of Ghost Whisperer except the main character is one stupidly horny medium. He thinks about sex all the time, it was ridiculous at times. There are some cringe pop culture references which I hate so i'm even more confused as why I gave this 5 stars in 2020

Listened to this one. Not my normal fare, but I enjoyed it. There's some pretty graphic sex as a heads up. I'll pick up the next one in the series to see what happens.

Hmm. I enjoyed it but I wish it were more spooky. Also Rain annoyed me too much. He should have grovelled more.

This was fun!

I liked the mix of the lighthearted tone and the heavy mystery investigation. I tend to be pretty oblivious so take this with a grain of salt, but the resolution wasn't immediately obvious to me and really kept me engaged.

The romance progressed at a good pace. I love, love, love couples with history (when the reason for the initial break-up wasn't a massive betrayal), and this felt really genuine. Rain coming back "home" and finding things put away in different places made me strangely sad, and I really felt for them both as they tried to navigate their new relationship.

I thought it was hilarious how once Rain finally starts revealing that he can speak to ghosts,
Spoiler no one really cares that much. I mean, ok, Danny has a mini-freakout, but I think it's well within reason. Everyone else is just like, "ok then, so let's just create a new paranormal task force ".

Ethan was such a sweetheart;
Spoiler I was sad to see him go even though I was glad he did get some peace with his parents.

I was, however, put off by the Anna plotline.
SpoilerDanny's sister's disappearance seems like a massive secret to keep from his partner of several years, even though Rain was also keeping secrets. Then her ghost is just dangled in front of our faces, and Danny doesn't want to know about it! Sure, that's his choice, but I hope we come back to this in later books.

The narration for this book was fine. There were a fair number of internal thoughts, and I sometimes had a hard time working out when it was Rain talking or when he was just thinking.

**Audiobook Review**

I devoured the first three books in this series on audio. I can’t remember the exact details of each book so I’m reviewing this as a series.

I’ve had this one on my kindle for a while but am in an audio phase and these were available through my library app so I listened to them. The vocal performance in the first book was not my favorite. He had moments of greatness but disappointed me most of the time. Kirt Graves is fantastic with his performance in books two and three. When each character full name’s each other…got me every time.

I love how Danny loves Rain. I love their banter. I love the team they’re on and the work they do. I love all the characters (except Rain’s old boss at the bureau).

I just love this series…I listened to the first three books in two days. Now I’m going to go read book four since it’s not on audio yet. This is a series to revisit repeatedly.

SO much unused potential in the paranormal aspect of the story. I wish that part had a bigger influence. It was mainly a second-chance-romance, which is fine, but if you're expecting a constant communication with ghosts (like I was) you will be disappointed. However, Rain had some very relatable thoughts/golden thoughts throughout the book:

"My brain barely had a second to send my arms the Open signal before a blonde-haired shape launched itself at me."

"Mananger's office, then nuggets, 'cuz, you know, priorities."
