Funny, irreverant, excellent second chance romance. But reading about cops who bully witnesses and suspects just feels weird nowadays.

NGL—this was fairly boring for a mystery novel. :/ No intention of continuing with the series.

4.4~4.5/5 spooky stars, rounded up!

I went in expecting I wouldn't like it. I rarely ever read PNR and see second chances with sceptic eyes. So I was nicely surprised with how this all turned out.

Audio: 2.9/5
First time with Noah Michael Levine. There were inconsistencies - sometimes it was great, sometimes it just...wasn't. I liked his voice and the narration was alright, but had a hard time identifying characters multiple times.

Story: 4/5
Characters: 4.5/5
Writing: 4.5/5

Why I didn't give this a 5:

- I have some questions about Rain and Danny's relationship. They were together for 3-4 years but spent all that hiding away secrets? I guess it's not entirely bizarre. But it still made me think twice.

- There were some things I wished were elaborated more. Like Ethan. I enjoyed his character from the very first page and thought it was unfair for him to just disappear into thin air. Though he is a ghost. But the lack of any reaction/emotion on Rain's part on Ethan felt like a gap. I mean, he was his first and longest ghost-friend, right?

- Though I do think single-pov was the correct choice for this, I wanted to know Danny's perspective too. Maybe only a couple of chapters, just to see how he thinks. I loved how gentle and caring he was throughout despite the doubts and heartbreak. It'd be interesting to know how he dealt with everything. That might fill some gaps.

- I didn't get the pop culture references so I just ignored them and pretended they didn't exist. There were a few other logistical things that made me raise my eyebrows but nothing major to throw me off.

Now that I've put that all out, let's get onto the brighter things!

- Writing style. Great writing. There were so many bits I re-read.
- The author had an idea and they executed it really well.
- Engaging mystery. Kept the plot moving forward.
- Second chance actually done right
- Size difference
- Pining & sexual tension - they are so gone for each other and it shows from the moment they met. Their chemistry for filthy hot and don't even get me started on the dirty talk.
- Right amount of slowburn
- Banters that left me with a goofy grin
- Humor. Reading this was de-stressing.
- Interesting characters - Special shoutout to Ethan. Loved him. He has the potential to be Rain's sidekick. I wish to see more of him tbh. Will I?
- I loved how when Rain made up his mind to go back to Danny, he stuck to it and stayed consistent. He was vocal and transparent. I loved his strong-mindset.

I'm pretty sure there's more but I can't recall.

Overall, I enjoyed and loved it enough to feel super content when I found out there's moooore of them. Rain and Danny didn't make it the first time maybe because this is what was missing earlier. Both were so busy keeping their own secrets that they didn't dare ask for the other's 'cause no one was ready to share theirs and that created a rift. I believe this is just the first step in Rain and Danny's relationship and there's still many more steps to take before they reach there.

For now, I loved what they gave me and I'm ready to know more.

Moving on to #2!

P.S. I love the title.

What an incredible tale. I loved Rain and Danny grew on me. The writing is extremely well done and the mystery, while being a wee bit predictable, was still highly entertaining.

Fun queer mystery/romance. 2 ex's have to work together and sparks fly... Good fun and light read. Smut aplenty! And of course 1 of them can see dead people.
