i just finished this book and… wow. i don’t even know where to begin. firstly, the writing itself is some of the most beautiful prose i’ve ever read. there were so many lines that stopped me in my tracks — sentences i had to write down just to hold onto them. “but a word is nothing but a painting of fire. a name is the fire itself.” wow. that’s not just clever, it’s art. the whole book is full of moments like that. so sharp, so thoughtful, it kept making me laugh in awe at how good it was. and then there’s the story. ugh. it’s such a story. the way it loops, with the epilogue landing almost exactly where the prologue began, felt so satisfying, like a perfect circle. kvothe is one of the most compelling characters i’ve ever followed. he’s brilliant, flawed, desperate, funny, devastating. i have so many questions, so many theories, and i just know this is going to be one of those stories that sticks with me forever.
the best way i can describe the feeling it left me with is.. it’s like leaving a movie theater after watching a superhero film, where you walk out into the night air feeling lighter, inspired, like maybe magic is real and maybe heroes do exist. that’s what this book did to me. the name of the wind isn’t just a fantasy novel, it’s an experience, and it’s one i’ll never forget. <3

Eigentlich hatte ich Spaß.
Doch man muss auch sagen, es passiert viel und gleichzeitig wenig. Ich werde das Gefühl nicht los, dass es viel "filler" gibt.
So sollte die Kapitel mit dem Dracus vermutlich spannend sein, aber ich wollte viel lieber erfahren, wie es weiter um seinen Aufstieg im Institut geht.
Generell ist die Universität das größte Highlight für mich: Seine Aufnahmeprüfung, seine Unterrichtsstunde und seine Anhörungen. Allesamt großartige Kapitel in denen ich häufig lachen musste.
Auch die Geldprobleme haben mich immer weiter fragen lassen: wie kommt er jetzt da wieder raus?
Doch insgesamt ist es auch wirklich lang. Es hätten gerne mehrere 100 Seiten weniger für meinen Geschmack sein können. Und ich weiß auch noch nicht, wie ich die jetztige Zeitlinie mit den Wirtshaud finde. Erst fand ich es ganz charmant doch dann eher lästig wenn es die Geschichte unterbricht. Außerdem verzögert es den Beginn der Richtigen Geschichte um 100 Seiten. Ich möchte trotzdem gerne den nächsten Teil lesen.

I listened to this entire book and it was absolutely amazing. The audible is amazing.
I love characters like Kvothe. The wit, the pure genius. There is no question that young Kvothe has an ego, but he is amazing.
I hate the love interest. Kvothe is too good for her.
