Llevaba mucho tiempo sin conectar tanto con una lectura y debo reconocerle conmovido
This is by far one of my favorite books I have read in awhile. The development of the main character in and of herself, but also the development of the relationships throughout the book was beautiful. It even makes you look at reading aloud on a deeper level. Such a good book and a very quick read because I didn't want to put it down!
This book is a heartwarming historical fiction made for book lovers. I definitely recommend!

You wouldn’t think you’d find cozy fiction set against the blitz, but this book does so with charm. The themes of loyalty, determination, sacrifice, and optimism soften the backdrop of war, fear, destruction, and loss. The love of literature and its ability to inspire, transform, provide escape, and yet also connection is the true main character of this tale. This story is a good reminder that in difficult times it is more important than ever to read a good book.
Moderate: Death, War
I read this book for the Book Riot 2022 Read Harder Challenge, for the category of "Read a book set in a bookstore".
Unfortunately, this ended up being a DNF for me. I loved the premise - a woman who just moved to London from the English countryside right before the start of WWII, who finds a job in a local bookshop. The bookstore needs a lot of love, and our protagonist makes it her goal to help the bookstore prosper again. Meanwhile, there are bombs being dropped and England has officially entered the war.
When I read historical fiction books about war, I expect it to be...at least a little gritty. This book felt too light and fluffy for its content. I just found myself not connecting to the story or the characters in any way, so I decided to put it down. It might be worth picking back up again in the future, but for now it wasn't for me.

Pulls at the heartstrings and gives a woman's eye view of WWII in London.
The title sort of gives the ending away, but it’s a sweet story to say the least. A bit goody-goody, but that sort of adds to the charm of the novel. Even though it’s set during a very heartbreaking time in history, this is just a sweet novel that makes you happy to read.

Loved this! I especially appreciated seeing how Grace made an impact from her position as someone who “stayed behind” as all her friends left for war. And of course, as a book lover I was all on board with the bookshop theme.
