Very genuine book. I really felt for the characters. Shows the true goodwill we can choose to give even when faced with terrible times.
3.5 stars but rounded up! Also the narrator was fabulous which always makes a difference.
This is a WWII book but at its heart it is really a book about books and the ways those can bring people together. Its a book of loss and continuing on through things that feel impossible. Its about seeing London bombed and the horror of that while seeing how the citizens can make a change and save one another.
This was not a book about those on the frontlines of the war. Instead this story shows how everyday people survived. It primarily takes place during the Blitz and I appreciated hearing about those experiences.
I enjoyed this easy reading historical fiction. I'll happily read more books by the author.

Really nice and lovely book, great for this holiday season of the year. There were a lot of emotions throughout the whole book, however not too much to make you stress, just enough to make you feel with the character. Really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all

The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin is a very delightful read! I found it to be a heartwarming and lovely story. Even though there is heartbreak and sadness, the story is wonderful change from what I have been reading. I feel it does the past justice and helps the reader see what times were like in London during World War II. While there is a little romance, that is not the main purpose of the book. Such a lovely story and will be one I read again!
I got this book when I was in my deep WWII phase. Luckily for me I still appreciate these stories even if I'm not only reading them anymore.
Books about books is one of my favorite genres. I mean, as an avid book reader, what more would I want to read about than... books?
Heavy with themes of friendship, bravery, and romance this was quite the palate cleanser for me between some of the other fantasy reads that I've been indulging in lately.

This one took a minute to get into but once I finally did I was captivated. This book was an interesting spin on how everyday people survived WW2 in the midst of London. Grace ends up working at a bookshop and she has a more significant impact on the people and community around her than she realizes. Grace’s readings throughout the war reminded me of the “Hurricane Harvey Book Club”and the teachers, authors, and celebrities who read books on Instagram at the beginning of the pandemic. Stories help people escape and provide hope in dire times. Definitely worth reading if you are a book lover.
