Heartwarming book set during World War 2 with a focus on a young woman who moves to London with her best friend to start her exciting new adult life just before the war begins. Of course, it involves a book store. It was predictable and had a number of clichéd characters (confident outspoken bestfriend, curmudgeonly older gentlemen who is really a teddybear, innocent kind young man who is too good for this world, etc) and it was predictableand wven thought its a heavy topic it was lightly done. However, I still enjoyed it (I listened to the audiobook) and recommend it especially if you enjoy books set in that time.

Horrible things happen to basically perfect characters.

This is a great story of self discovery and friendships built during WWII. The characters are endearing and the ending brought tears to my eyes.

Loved this book! More of a light hearted book for WWII with a little romance. Reminded me of why I love all the classics and why I love reading

Enjoyable, but a bit bland

I appreciated the ending. It was in completing the book that I could appreciate the slow story.

I love WWII books, and this is probably my favorite I read. Page 73, when George is describing his love for reading was absolutely beautiful.
