This is the single most amazing book I've ever read. It has EVERYTHING.
When I started reading it, I had no idea that the setting of story is based on true events. And I actually thought it would be a kind of yellowjacketsy situation where the women turn into a cult or something. Now I am SO glad it didn't because this was just sososoosososo much better.
In addition to the characters being so realistically drafted and the atmosphere taking me in after about 5 pages, I learned soo much about Norwegian history/witch trials without it ever feeling forced.
It's done so tastefully. Usually stories about witch hunts are much too violent and depressing for me, but the author manages to find the perfect balance between displaying the violence and gore of humanity on the one hand and romance, love, and community on the other.
What's more, I truly thought I was going insane by thinking there are some ... fruity elements in the book and was SO glad when it turned out to be real
Ahhhhh I just love this book
Everyone should have to read this in school because the way their minds are manipulated and the women turn against each other all due to a man's interference and past trauma... It's still so relevant.
