A great classic, but also sad to end the way it does (which is very different than the 2013 movie, by the way).

This book is excellent.
This book is fine. it’s a good read, and it’s easy. the writing is simple but the best way. three stars instead of four for two reasons - one, it’s definitely overrated. two, there’s no way F Scott wrote this. Zelda Fitzgerald wrote this and this is a hill i will die on.

One of my favorites to teach, mostly because the students love to read it & discuss it.
One of my favorites to read, mostly because of Fitzgerald’s ability to capture the brokenness every human shares, paired with the beauty of the dreamer.
Where do we find our identity? In what we love? In what we do? Life is more than all of that. If we lack purpose, we move from nothing to nothing, as Fitzgerald aptly describes. Find purpose in the one who will satisfy, so when our dreams are just dreams, we still have life to live.
