This poetry collection is a deep look at the trauma and reality of war on a young adult/child’s life. There’s graphic descriptions of war, destruction, and emotional trauma from experiencing constant occupation. I’ve read several collections by Palestinian poets and this one brought something unique - probably due to the fact that this isn’t a translation. These poems were penned in English. Additionally, the author is transcribing his experiences as an adolescent. Extremely powerful.
Hands down, one of the most powerful collections of poetry I have ever read. Mosab Abu Toha has easily become one of my favorite all-time writers, and I’m on the lookout for his future works. ❤️

A heartbreakingly vulnerable collection of poems about what it's like to be born, grow up, and live under siege from Gazan poet Mosab Abu Toha. From the interwoven motifs of nature to the literal descriptions of ongoing ethnic cleansing, I sincerely believe that everyone must read this collection to truly understand the beauty of Palestine and its people juxtaposed against the horrors of Zionism and the Israeli state. My favorites from this collection include "Palestine A-Z," "My Grandfather Was a Terrorist," and "The Wounds," but I was truly captivated by each and every piece of this collection (including the bit of gorgeous photography in the interlude!) and I cannot wait to check out this poet's upcoming collection.
