Different than what I thought (in that Isles doesn’t appear at all), and not like the tv show (yet), but I found it a fun read and will continue the series. Very bingeable.
there was no Isles… and barely any rizzoli
loved the show, but idk, this is very, very different

Such a good thriller! It was my first thriller in a few months and maybe that made me enjoy it even more.
I took some stars off because of the medical words in the book which sometimes made my head spin but otherwise was this great. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and for the longest time, I thought I nee who the murderer was but boy, was I wrong. Will recommend to any thriller lover. 4,25 ⭐️

Przeczytałem w jeden dzień, ale rewelacji brak. Samo dochodzenie dziurawe, bohaterowie raczej irytujący. Dam szansę kolejnej części, zobaczymy.

Since I enjoyed the Rizzoli and Isles tv series, I thought I would try the books that started it all. Well, it was different, both in terms of the tone and characters. Maura for instance is not present in this title, appearing in the second, and Jane was hard to recognise. The basis was there however and there is development, as can be seen in the following instalments (have just finished the 3rd one).
These novels are crime thrillers and dish out a lot of violence, particularly aimed at women. It’s been a long time since I’ve read this type of story, and this one turned out to be weirdly addictive, even considering all the gruesome details. Still, it is very dark, especially due to the nature of the crimes. Be forewarned! I shall carry on but making sure of counterbalancing all that violence with ‘lighter' reads.

Absolutely loved this story, but the narrator almost made me dnf. Only continuing to the 2nd story in the series because thankfully it's a different narrator. It doesn't matter how amazing the story is, if the narration sucks. Ms. Gerritsen is amazing at crafting her characters! And her plots always deliver!!
This book was pretty suspenseful, and I didn't figure out who the killer was ahead of time. The thing I didn't like about this story was that there was too much medical and technical mumbo jumbo.
