I need to process this more but I can say I think anyone who has an opportunity to read this book should. Important, powerful, and beautifully written. Gorgeous prose.

Beautiful writing. Highly recommend to listen to it. The entire book feels like a poem

The most honest thing I’ve ever read about how lies and secrets are held in our bodies.

I normally don’t read memoirs but this read like a novel and was so beautiful. I tested up multiple times while reading (and cried). This felt so deeply personal and his themes resonated with me a lot.

Astoundingly brilliant writing and a rip-your-guts our narrative.

It’s a great book and well written, it just wasn’t personally my thing.

Graphic: Child abuse and Eating disorder
Moderate: Body shaming
As the title suggests, this is a heavy read. But definitely worth reading. Touches on topics such as body shaming, attitudes toward obesity, guilt, family relationships, and growing up African American.
