Enjoyable, romp. Hint of romance. Crime caper.

As fun as the first one. Already excited to read the next. Hope this becomes a very long series. Only thing that bothered me was the marker. Addictions never really go away. Anyone who’s ever gone through a twelve step program can tell you that. Also, can’t decide if I’m rooting for the cop, the lawyer, or neither, but that’s why I have to read the third one tomorrow ;-)

Another great book! Finn is at it again in another addition of novelist/contract killer mom Finnley. I didn't rank this as high as the first book because it seemed a tad less messy and chaotic than the first. The appeal of the first to me was that Finn was a recently divorced mom of two struggling to make ends meet and write her book while fending off her cheating ex. The mystery of the hit and the mod seemed more organic and chaotic in thought. This book seemed to have the thoughts in boxes and every trail was followed like a practiced detective who had a lot of experience. Even with Finn and Vero basically solving several murders and getting a mod boss arrested, they're still just civilians who dabbled in contact hits. It was a tad disappointing but it's still a great read!

Just like the first book in the series, the beginning dragged on for me. And I have a hard time relating to Finlay even though I am a mom with a toddler because I feel like she makes a ton of choices that get her into unnecessary trouble. I have a hard time suspending my disbelief reading this book, but when I can, I really enjoy it. The story is kooky with lots of unexpected turns, which keep me coming back to find out what happens next.

Finlay Donovan's life is such a tangled web! This second book in the series is a fast-moving murder-for-hire caper with fast cars and even faster men (I have no idea what I mean by that lol except that Julian and Nick have both fallen fast for Finn). Some suspension of disbelief is obviously required, but it was still entertaining and ultimately wrapped up nicely with a setup for book three. I would almost class it a "cozy thriller"—there's life-threatening action on-page, but the majority of the plot is Finn and Vero just living their complicated lives.

Right out of the gate I still hate her husband, Steven, and I also hate Julian. Finlay deserves better than both those clowns. The moments she has with Nick are tense and passionate and he is clearly the right choice for her. But where’s the fun in that. ;)

I love how many of the characters make repeat appearances in this book. I also love that it was less murdery and all about the mystery.

And the revelation at the end was delightfully hilarious. Another very enjoyable book by Elle Cosimano.

Probably the best sequel I’ve read in years! Finlay & co are such a fun group of characters and you can’t help but to devour this as quickly as you can. I would definitely rank the first book higher, but this one is just as fun and twisty but with slightly less payoff at the end. This is forgivable, though, as it’s in favor of setting up (hopefully) a few more books. The ending works well, it’s the perfect balance of tied-up loose ends and cliffhangers. Can’t wait for the next one!
