Cece Bell

4.22 AVERAGE

CeCe got sick at 4 years old and lost her hearing. In this stunning, heart-warming graphic memoir, CeCe Bell takes us on a journey of friendship and self-acceptance.

I really enjoyed this! It was a super quick, touching read. The art is absolutely adorable. The story itself is also very wholesome and sweet. I loved the representation this book brings to the world of graphic novels and I would definitely read more from this author!

I read this graphic novel about a decade ago, but the audiobook puts a fantastic spin on the story with immersive empathy: you hear dialogue and the world around you as Cece would with her hearing aid.

The voice cast is a little hammy, but the audiobook understood the assignment and absolutely stuck the landing. This would be a great story to share with kids.

a great read that made me laugh and opened my eyes on more of the world

I love this book! I think my students will too. Cece is so funny, smart and brave. She really is a super hero. The note from the author gives students great information on hearing loss.

This is based on the life of the author who became deaf at the age of 4. It is a graphic novel that shares the fears and fight for acceptance of the main character. Good for grades 4+.
