(3.5) Jasmine Guillory’s romcoms are always a charming, fun time and this was no exception! As a California girl, I loved that this was set in Santa Barbara and I thought the backdrop of book writing/publishing was really interesting. I also thought she did a great job of weaving in the Beauty and the Beast story with familiar names and story beats, while still making the story feel fresh.

If you’re looking for a feel good romance with no spice, this book is for you. I LOVED the inspiration that Izzy gave Beau! And I loved the way they came together. I can’t say enough good things about this book. In some ways, I wish I was Izzy and worked in publishing being surrounded by books all day, every day. Or maybe I wish I was Beau who was actually writing a books. You’ll just have to read this for yourself.

3.5 stars. This is cute and a fun take on this story, I just felt the Beast guy didn't have much personality beyond HMPH!- and it's maybe even less sympathetic because his beastlyness isn't thrust upon him by a curse, but by the fame and fortune that he chooses and some family issues. Which is not the saddest tale ever told, and flirts with the question of how much emotional intelligence we can reasonably demand from a man.
