I'd never read any adult Roald Dahl, but his children's writing was so masterful I thought his adult writing would be the same. This set of stories is crafted beautifully with a tinge of darkness about them. I love that the stories mainly end at the climax to leave you to imagine your own ending. A great weekend read.

I enjoyed this book very very much! This was the first not-children's book by Roald Dahl I ever read and I was not let down. The shorts are clever, funny and disturbing at the same time. My favourite is 'Lamb to the Slaughter' without any doubt. Anyone who has never read anything other than his children's books and picks this one up will not be disappointed.

Most of the stories are great, COMPLETELY unlike what you know from his children's books. some are a little difficult to understand. Overall, fun read.

Read the first two short stories and then skimmed the rest. I read a book with his short stories a long time ago and really liked them. Now it just felt so dated to me and not really all that unexpected. Not gripping enough to keep me and my very short attention span hooked long enough to keep going.

As the name suggests, the stories are wonderfully unexpected.

I didn't really like this. The stories were good, but I felt like nothing was ever really resolved, but I think that might be because it's short stories and not because the writing was bad.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF, not getting into this. I think his children's books are more suited for me.
