Starting with the first page the author weaved a dynamic set of imagery that drew me in and held me tight for the whole book. There were times that I was frustrated with the main character's actions, but it didn't bother me as much as it usually does. I usually get frustrated with this because authors can use it as a crutch to move the story along, but this felt more like character building. Which was definitely explained by the final page.
I have traditionally been a reader of mostly sci-fi, with maybe some fantasy splashed in here and there. Some of the more recent titles I have read are taking me out of my typical genres. Because of this I would not consider myself very "well read". This book references many other books, some of which I have read, most I have not. But it doesn't put me down for that, rather it encourages my new found expanded interests.
Thoroughly enjoyed this title from cover to cover. I would give it a go if you enjoy mysteries with some great character development and impressive imagery.

This was a slog to finish. I liked the premise - books, scones and female friendships- but it didn’t live up to the promise.
The writing was clunky and the dialogue all felt forced. There were a lot of gender stereotypes which were unnecessary. The crime plot itself was convoluted, incomprehensible and boring!
There were so many other things I found I didn’t like but the main problem for me was Nora’s secret. A) it was unforgivable and b) I find it hard to believe that, even though she had been injured, she wouldn’t have got some kind of jail sentence. She said she has a record but it seems she got off very lightly, solely because of her injuries. If this had been revealed earlier I think I would’ve stopped reading then. Part of me wishes I hadn’t bothered to finish it at all!

I enjoyed this mystery as well as the group of friends who helped solve it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Not too spicy/graphic as far as the romance, and it was an intriguing story about past and present choices and the way they shape our lives. I can't wait to read the second in the series!

I love cozy mysteries but this was just boring. Also the cliche references to 9000 books got on my nerves.
