I normally can’t do audiobooks because they don’t hold my attention the way reading does, but this book definitely was entertaining enough to listen to. It so good, I just wish it was longer and actually explained what was the cause of the plot. I would have been much more satisfied.

¿Acaso me olvidé de actualizar esta lectura?
Evidentemente.

fuck it.. im just gonna say it. the movie was better- it was scarier, more disturbing and definitely creepier. i mean its still interesting but it didn’t have ANY details like the movie did. it was just so.. fast.. to fast for ANYTHING to happen. literally we didn’t get ONE THING.
In the Tall Grass does a great job of balancing the short story format and holding tension. Would it have been great to read more about the rock or have the powers of the rock better fleshed out? Sure. Would the novella have then been a full novel? Also yes. The mysteries left unexplained or fully fleshed out in short stories are what keep me thinking about them for months or years after I've initially read them.
Similarly, the somewhat ambiguous ending (we know what happened to our original characters through simple inference but not what happens to this new set of characters) will keep me wondering about them for a long time.
I don't usually like to do this but I watched the Netflix movie before I read the novella. Unsurprisingly, the book was better. The pacing in the movie was completely off and it made me worried we might see similarly bad or slow pacing in the novella. I was happy with the pacing, though. The story moves at a very quick clip with fast building horror until the "omg" ending.
Great read. Overall, four stars. Not one I'd go out of my way to reread but certainly recommendable to fans of horror.

This very much had Children of the Corn vibes. I liked it, but wasn't wowed. I do always enjoy the detail and atmosphere provided by King and will get to read something by Hill in the future hopefully

Nice Collaboration
Good read. Very reminiscent of The Lawnmower Man and other short stories from Stephen Kong's Night Shift. Very cool to see Joe Hill following successfully in his father's footsteps.

Good for a short story. Well developed, ominous tension, gore, and “oh no you didn’t” moments
