This was absolutely VILE.
I don't get grossed out and disgusted by much but this made me physically cringe, and it was AMAZING.
I love gross stories. This was everything you expect from a King story, just completely horrifying and disgusting and just a little bit sexist. But I'll forgive the sexism, it was really good.
(I also did not use the Audio CD I found a copy of the story online and read it but this is the version on my TBR so this is what I'm rating.)

This story is very sad and gory, as well as engaging. Though, any longer and I highly doubt it would have been worth reading. Depressing is the best word I can use to sum it up, so not really my favorite type of writing, but still worth the time for the length. Obviously will never walk in tall grass again...
Goosie Scale Rating: 6/10
This was a fairly cringy read, and there were definitely a few scenes that made my hair stand up, but it wasn't long enough to have too much attachment to any characters to create a strong sense of caring.
First Sentence Rating: 8/10
He wanting quiet for a while instead of the radio, so you could say what happened was his fault."
I think this sentence does a great job of wrapping the reader in with minimal information. "Fault" tells the reader that "what happened" was not good at all, while also suggesting that whatever is about to follow could have been prevented by something as simple as continuing to listen to the radio.

I am very impressed by the effectiveness of this short story. I shouldn't be as it's written by two master storytellers of horror but here we are.
In the Tall Grass is claustrophobic from the very beginning and has a sense of dread even before the siblings, Cal and Becky follow the cries of a young boy into the grass. Father and son duo, King and Hill, have such a talent for creating an atmosphere that feels real even when the content of the story is based around the supernatural. This short story does not hold back from the blood and gore and there are a few trigger warning that I will mention down below because it is straight-up brutal, my friends.
In the Tall Grass will surely make you wonder about what goes on in the fields around the country.
*Trigger Warnings for miscarriage, cannibalism, mutilation*

well this was not my favourite, but I'm interested to see how they translated this story to a movie
I’d heard a lot of people say how disturbing and gruesome this book was and they were shocked it was being made into a movie and how they’d have to change a lot to get it made... so obviously I was so excited to read it.
Sadly, I was let down. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book and I loved it but I was so ready for some disgusting, twisted stuff to happen and it didn’t.

There once was a creepy story by Mr. King,
Who's plot had an ominous ring.
A stream of characters were lured into the grass,
While readers knew they would lose their ass.
Proving mundane to horror is the gift he can best bring.
