Usually I take my time to read the next book in a series. Giving myself time to digest the what I just consumed in order to be ready for the next. But the way Lisa Kleypas integrated Helen and Rhys in the first book. Reading the second book was like turning a page in the first book. I love her writing and the way sees romance and love. New fave writer.

5 million stars + a top tier read!

Omg Rhys Winterborne — everyone was right! 😍😍😍 He’s a ruthless tycoon and rough around the edges, but at one stage Helen thinks he’s like “an affectionate wolf” which is 100% accurate. And Helen — such a gentle and warm character, which makes the way he yearns for her really hit in the feels. 🥹

I loved the way the story played out, and the plot was well-crafted, but the star of the show was definitely the swoonworthy relationship between Rhys and Helen. There was so much tenderness, and they were such a tactile couple with constant physical affection. I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.

I finished the audiobook (Mary Jane Wells was excellent as always), and then immediately replayed the last 20%…

… even though it was way past my bedtime. ALAS! 🤣

P.S. Reading Cold Hearted Rake first is a must, as Rhys and Helen’s story starts there.

I honestly really enjoyed this one.  I actually laughed out loud at a few parts which is hard to find in a HR.  The main characters were so into each other and the supporting characters gave the book a good balance.  This is only the second Lisa Kleypas book I've read, the first was Cold-Hearted Rake, which wasn't nearly as good as this one.  However, reading those characters in THIS book was a delight and I enjoyed them even more.  I'm looking forward to reading more from this author and particularly this series.

I have a thing for MMCs who care for FMCs during migraines. 😍 Rhys and Helen had so much chemistry and made such a great match—you could tell Kleypas enjoyed writing this one.

Rhys is a rich shop owner and lavishes her with gifts.
Cute: When he read books about how to take care of Orchids after she gifted him one.
I didn’t like this as much as I expected.

Q:
"Try to leave me, and see what happens. Go to France, go anywhere, and see how long it takes for me to reach you. Not five fucking minutes." He took a few vehement breaths, his gaze locked on hers. "I love you. I don't give a damn if your father is the devil himself. I'd let you stab a knife in my heart if it pleased you, and I'd lie there loving you until my last breath."

I loved all the characters, especially Pandora and West, they're my babies.
I'm dying to read Pandora's story with Gabriel Lord St. Vincent and I really want to find out with who will end up West!

I also loved the story but I didn't like that much that ending.
