This book was such a feel good book, I fell involve with Savvy and her personality. Her mindset is an inspiration and shows so much growth. I love the theme of no matter what you are enough!!

The writing was not very focused. We got a lot of detail about things that really didn't matter. Why was so much time spent describing tennis drills???

Also, intentional weightloss/wellness because of a man is not it.

Additionally, I didn't like the narrator. Keeping this apart from the book rating to be fair, but the narrator had 1 voice for every male character, and it was not good.  Every man sounded angry or over macho. And the women's voices were strange too. They were all one note, no emotion came through the voice. If you're looking for a good audiobook, I'd skip this one.

Overall a really cute romcom! There were a couple things I didn’t care for but nothing that took away from the story. Would recommend if you need a cozy, laughable story!

I feel like I just couldn't get into the book. I really wanted to see the couple fall for each other and start dating, I really liked savvy and Spencer's banter and getting to know each other. And maybe I'll try to pick this book up again later as an audiobook. But it just felt like there's so much description that was unnecessary. And the comments about Savvy's body always made me a little uncomfy. Would not recommend to anybody who struggles with an eating disorder or bond dysmorphia.

DNF after 5 chapters.

In the opening chapter, biracial (Thai/Black) Savvy lets her boyfriend of six years treat her like crap and then appeases him when he criticizes her for not paying enough attention to him (i.e., not being home in time to cook him dinner, etc.) Yuck. But since boyfriend dumps her in chapter 2, telling her she's let herself go and he needs an upgrade, I kept reading. But there's not much forward momentum in the storyline; we don't get a goal/motivation moment until chapter 4, when Savvy decides to "upgrade" herself to get revenge on her ex. Yeah, not the most feminist of storylines here...

Set the book aside to check out Goodreads reviews at the end of 5 chapters, to see if the story got any better. But it appears not. So, yet another DNF book for me...

What to expect: post break up, fat rep, neighbors, weight loss

I liked most of this book, but didn't love the way it handled weight loss. The friend group was really well done, and the romance could have benefitted form a little more development.

Spice: 2.5/4
