This book is predictably paranoia inducing and/or depressing, depending on your disposition. But in either case, it is very informative, even if it's going out of date (especially the more hopeful parts of it, unfortunately) at the usual technology obsoletion rate.

Very well written, super interesting. Also, super depressing.

TL:dr; to be invisible, go back in time 20-25 years, don't participate in any technology, and live in the woods. Forever.

Seriously though, a good read that the general populace should pick up. Most of us have no idea where our data is going, and we can't protect ourselves until we do.

Not as good as Ghost in the Wires and not very actionable for a supposed guide.

Fantastic book. Kevin Metnick spells out in plain English : (1) How our freedom of privacy is being eroded day by day and why it's vital to our Freedom; (2) the tools and website citizens can use to protect their privacy; (3) the tools and techniques that government and law enforcement employ to learn not only our web-surfing habits but even out offline activities; (4) the scope and kinds of information that governments and law enforcement are looking for when they perform background checks and wiretapping.
