3.75 stars. I love how the main characters in this book just get down to business and get things done, and I felt a flush of pride anytime another character or the author quietly acknowledged just how well they were doing despite massive adversity.
That being said, I found myself trying not to skim through a bulk of the final third of this book as the constant mentioning of lightning, hemispheres, and the blue-clothed dead was beginning to wear on me. Of course, these elements are the driving forces of the whole book, but I struggled to stay engaged for some parts of it. The ending was triumphant, however, and one day I may continue on with the other unowned books that further explore these characters and world.

Oh man it ends so ABRUPTLY! I want to give Lirael a huge hug. I know the cycle sort of concludes in Goldenhand but I’ve heard Clairel is extremely rough… I suppose we’ll have to see, won’t we. Absolutely STAN the Disreputable Dog and Mogget as usual, and I want lots of bonding between Lirael and Sabriel :’)

By far the best book in the series, and certainly one of the best fantasy novels I have ever read. One of those rare "end of series" books that manages to wrap up all the loose ends in a convincing and fulfilling way. Highly recommended.

Great. Now I'm sobbing at 7 o'clock in the morning before I have to get to work...
But for all the right reasons.
