Not terrible but also not great. Good story though

this took me almost a month to read, and i was so close to DNF but i pushed through, and for that it gets 3 stars

I got this book as an ARC and I am not disappointed...

Ara is just a normal girl, the generals daughter that craves adventure until her world is turned upside down.

I love Ara's story, she's strong, knows what she wants. Her life is ripped away from her but instead of letting it drag her down she learns new things about herself and goes out on top.

Rogue is the perfect brooding alpha male that simpers for his woman. I love his strength, his devotion and ability to listen to others.

Their story is chaotic, full of lust, hatred and respect for each other and I'm here for it. I cannot wait for the next one to come out because the cliffhanger has be on my toes. Just no! You can't end a book like this
adventurous challenging dark emotional hopeful mysterious reflective tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this book and wouod give it 3.5 stars, if that were an option. I appreciated that the characters had a lot to work through with regard to their relationships with their respective parents, and that many of the misunderstandings between them were simply a result of trauma.

The romance was good, and didn't feel forced or like it happened too quickly. The magic was interesting, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

INFINITY STARS OH MY GOD I LOVED THIS SO MUCH I CANT WAIT TO START BOOK 2

I found this book because of TikTok and a lot of people trashed it so it made me a bit hesitant to read. And maybe I’m just easy to please but I thought this was overall a fun time. Some of the pacing was a bit wonky but I didn’t think all of the twists were that easy to guess (maybe yall are smarter than me). I definitely think I’ll continue this series and for a debut book I think it was pretty solid.

DNF @ 70%

I downloaded this from KU one night and read 70% of it in one sitting, and while I was mildly entertained for the evening this just felt like a mediocre rendering of all the other romantasy books I’ve read. There was nothing here that I felt particularly set it apart or was memorable. Not to say that it was bad, in fact I think a lot of romantasy readers would find this enjoyable, but to me it felt like it needed more fleshing out.

I will say the spice was better than some I’ve read

I really, reeeaalllyyyy wanted to like this book. And for the most part, it felt like a standard 3 star read for me. It was okay, the spice was spicing, but it fell flat on so many different occasions. The plot twists were obvious, the FMC and MMC felt flat, their romance maybe a little forced. When it got to the big bad fight, the climax of the book, I felt like it was over in .25 seconds. The deaths that occurred I didn’t even care about, I felt nothing for the character because nothing was there to feel.

I will say I feel Rogue had more depth and mildly more maturity than Ara, I liked we got to see his vulnerability in his POV, but otherwise his character was “my dad was evil, everyone is afraid I’m like him” it felt very….. poorly done Kovu?

The pacing of this book is fast and choppy and it felt like attempting to scratch and itch but just not quite reaching it. With more time and an editor, I feel this author could write something fantastic. As a self published author with no editing team, it shows
