I was very confused by this book. I don’t know what I expected, but this was not it. I didn’t feel like there was a lot of character development. Yayoi definitely learned a lot about herself, but I didn’t feel like she grew at all as a person. It was a wild chase through their history and I really liked the quirky characters. I just didn’t feel like this book really moved me. It confused me, yes; it even weirded me out in places. I was sad and I felt Yayoi‘s pain at times, I liked her character analyses, but I didn’t feel like she really captured my interest.

Beautifully written but Japanese author not going with the most perverse storyline possible challenge failed

As soon as the book started hinting at incest I knew I couldn't do it.

genuinely this book was ass, the audiobook reader spoke too slowly and deliberately, the dialogue(and the way it was read) was clunky and not believable. both main characters were unpleasant.
I get that there is a fantasy aspect involved. I get that yayoi had past memories and premonitions that her family wasnt blood. but the awkward yearning towards her brother and then sudden shift when she realized they truly werent related was gross. They were raised together, idc. also yukino is pretty much unlikable in every way and a pedo predator.
anyway i read this hoping it would get better and it never did.
