Really like the character of Falk and then how different his alter ego was. They really read differently. The journey through the forest was awesome too

A really underrated book in Le Guin's canon and imo the best of the Hainish cycle. The Shing are fascinating villains, and help frame the central theme of the search for Truth. The book is far better on the second read-through, as Falk's wanderings are much more interesting when you understand what exactly the Shing have done to the planet

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I like the style of writing (it doesn't feel as dated as some of the other SciFi books I've read from the same time) and how the plot progresses. I'm not sure why it took me this long to start reading le Guin (I read one other of her books this year) but I'm definitely seeking out more.

my favorite of the first three hainish cycle books I think! not as compelling as later books like The Dispossessed, but definitely still a solid read
