I love the Sammy Keyes books in general, but this one wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad, but it wasn'y great either. If you are thinking of reading the series, DON'T START WITH THIS ONE.
I get that it’s realistic for a 13 year old to fat shame but theres a lot of it
Solid Sammy Keyes book. It introduces more of the personal struggles she has, as well as extends the growing pains of her group as they transition from seventh to eighth grade. The mystery--a caper that involves an old lady disguise and counterfeiting--is fairly interesting, but the stakes aren't too high.
Twelve books in and I'm still not sick of Sammy! I love her character and I love seeing the new complex issues she faces each book, while also loving the fun, kid life aspects.
I adore Sammy and her exploits. But I truly wonder about finding a guy like Casey in junior high.

Sammy, I love you, but the fatphobia REALLY jumped out in this one.
