Gah! So much happened in this book. It had me laughing, crying, smiling, and angry at times. Best book in the series so far. So happy there is a happy ending/beginning. Things sure were dicey there for a bit.

Was... this a romance? I felt like I kind of couldn't tell. It was a lot of paranormal macho male bonding interspersed with mildly BDSM sex scenes. The heroine, Janie, is a human who happens to be "the Chosen One"; ever since she was a kid she's been able to enter the Dreamworld and has two friends there, Kalin and Zane.
SpoilerThey both think they're going to end up with her. Kalin is a Kurjan, whatever the heck that is, and Zane - spoiler! - is a vampire/demon hybrid. This is actually a bad thing, because vampires are the good guys. (They are also all male and incredibly well-muscled, because of course they are.) Zane is being forced into obedience by his evil uncle, the Demon King, who will have his family killed if he doesn't do what he's told; the Demon King wants Janie dead, while Kalin (who is the Kurjan King) wants Janie "mated" to him, despite the fact that his favorite hobby is "hurting," hunting, and murdering women.
Zane kidnaps Janie For Her Own Good, they oopsies end up in bed together, and oopsies end up mated. We then get into a whole morass of prophecies, plagues, wars, commando raids, psychic bonds and betrayals. During all of this Zane essentially runs off with various of Janie's and his own friends and relatives and does Manly War Things while Janie stays at home and wrings her hands a lot. (Okay, we're told that she's a doctor, but for obvious reasons Zanetti doesn't want to get too into the doctoring because the whole science is ridiculous. So really she wrings her hands a lot.) Eventually
Spoilershe gets pregnant, and then she's staying at home, wringing her hands, and being pregnant
.

It's all just very silly - we're told that Janie is a kick-ass woman and she smacks people a lot, but she doesn't actually do much, and all the ass-kicking is done by dudes. A lot of paranormal romances are very hero-focused, and this is definitely one of those; more of the book was spent watching the dudes bro-bond and ass-kick than actually developing Janie, her importance, or her relationship with Zane.

This book was amazing! Best closure of a series in like...forever! So sad it's over, but I adored this series so much!

OK, a great conclusion to this cycle (the series is apparently not over =)) with answers to many of our questions and a lot of twists and emotions ><

What I particularly liked :
- FINALLY meet Zane in real life and find out who he was (HOLY SHIT THIS FIRST MEETING !!)
- the death of
Spoiler Kalin
who was just PERFECT (I must admit that I didn't expect it, especially knowing what he had done with the virus ...)
- all the plot with its twists (Kalin who was SO above of everyone with his virus =D) and THE stress (at first I said to myself "Nooo they can't die" but as I was reading, I began to have big doubts ><)
- this epilogue <3

In short, I devoured the book and this series =) This is not an absolute favorite because there is a little too much sex and the characters are not always developed enough but for those who want a light reading and who love vampires, this series is perfect =D

PS : I'm going to attack the spin-off with the witches ... Well OK I do that especially for Nick and Simone <3

Hope for the Realm

I was very pleased with this book. There are plenty of twists and it's about time we learned about who Zane truly is. Janie Belle kicked fate aside and followed her own rules. Well done Rebecca Zanetti.
