Daisy and Yaro, Yaro and Daisy, where do I even start with these two?
I absolutely devoured their story. Yes it very toxic, unhealthy and had an obvious power dynamic but still I loved Yaro and Daisy together. I loved Daisy's naivety, his optimism despite the horrible cards he was dealt in life and his total devotion to Yaro. I think Daisy believes he was born to love Yaro and that's why even at his worst Daisy stuck to him like glue.
Yaro on the other hand oh boy, maybe we should start considering writing mafia leaders going to therapy. Holding on to so much pain and hurt for over 18 years and letting it ruin what a was beautiful relationship with the sweetest and most devoted man ever? Yeah, bad move Yaro.
I will say however I liked the pain Yaro went through bc I'm a whore for angst, I liked that Yaro had trust issues and was irrational, I liked that he had such a difficult time moving on with Daisy moreso since his issues were all caused by Daisy's mom. However I do wish that we got to see more of him working on his issues for the sake of his relationship with Daisy. The book should have been 200 pages longer in my opinion bc there was so much more we could have gotten from these two. I wish we saw Yaro trying harder for Daisy even though he knew Daisy was quick to forgive.
I also loved Daisy getting to reconnect with his family. I would have loved to see him grow more and more as a person. Honestly I loved him so much and I wanted nothing but the absolute best.
I think my biggest let down in this book was the lack of the 'Daddy' aspect though. I mean despite Daisy saying it once or twice during sex the book didn't touch much on that side of their relationship which disappointed me bc this whole series is about Daddies and their boys.
But overall I actually enjoyed the book and will probably reread it some other time bc of my baby Daisy.
