I really liked the grief messaging in one of the variations. As a black reader I had ZERO desire to read about plantation life so that part was cringey to me, but the other endings were decent.

This book has all the Felicity stories I’ve been waiting for! They put so much of her life in context. Instead of simple stories about independence, we have complex stories about people just trying to get by.

I don’t usually like the choose-your-own-adventure format, but here it used to support dozens of short stories.
