This kid is adorable! I love how Lauren added this to the book, it makes it so unique and so real. I love reading about Jax having hope for a life with and without terminal illness. It's cute how the kid inspired him.

The great comebacks she makes when Jax is being a jerk are hilarious! This girl has a great sense of humor and never failed to amuse me.

When I said Jax got a filthy and flirty mouth, welp let me tell you that Elena also has a filthy and flirty mouth. Elena is a diva and even though she's being haunted by her past. She is a complete bad ass and one of the strongest women I know. (I know she's fictional but still)
I love Elías and Elena's friendship so much.

The way he outted himself to Jax just to make it easier for Elena. Which was such a brave and sweet thing to do. Elías is also very funny.

He’s gay and I love it when there are gay best friends. His protectiveness of Elena is valid and very beautiful to see. He’s also good at observing.

MY OPINION ABOUT THE STORY
The characters growth is something I really enjoyed. I like the way fate is brought into this story. Although I didn't like that at 70-80% the MMC 9/10 times fuck up. They break up and get back together. The fact he already knew he would self-destruct kind of annoys me, but I also get his point. (this part hit a bit too close to home) This story sounds so real that it actually could be reality.

Scene 2: this scene had me mentally sobbing. Vera you have my heart.
Vera: “My son did the hardest thing I think anyone can do. He broke the heart of the woman he loves to protect her, to give her a chance at her own happiness no matter how much it deprived him of his. And while I feel guilty he upset you, I won’t deny how proud I am of him. I raised him to care more about other people than himself, and that to me is a win. So, please, have it in your heart to forgive him. Fight for him like my husband fought for me. Show him that the sun doesn’t stop shining, even on the worst days.”
Scene 3:
Elena: “I come to the realization that not every love story is written the same way. From the start Jax and I were never meant for any basic ending with the boy chasing the girl to the sunset. In our story, I’m the one who needs to embrace the dark to pull him out and save him. From our past. For out future. And most of all, for the love I know is stronger than any shitty diagnosis or anxiety. I don’t need a happy ending. I need our ending. The one that might be messy and imperfect but exclusively ours. And it’s about damn time I go and fight for what I know is rightfully mine.”

This was by far the best book in this series so far. I loved the emotional aspects of this book as well as the characters. I really loved the fmc Elena so much.
